Terms Used


Luminaire

It is the complete lighting unit, consisting of a lamp or lamps together with the parts designed to distribute the light, position and protect the lamps, and connect the lamps to the power supply.


Lumens (lm)

Unit of luminous flux; the flux emitted within a unit solid angle by a point source with a uniform luminous intensity of one candela.


Luminous efficacy(lm/W)

The ratio of lumen output of the lamp and the rated power consumption expressed in lumens per watt. It indicates the efficiency of the luminaire.


Recommended illuminance levels (lux)

It is the level of illuminance required for a particular task to be carried out by an operator comfortably.


Mounting height (m)

The height of the fixture or lamp above the working plane


Watt per m2

It is the ratio of power in watts to the area of the work plane.


Energy performance Index (kWh/m2/year)

It is the key metric used for benchmarking energy usage in commercial building.


BEE Star Rating

The luminaires are rated on a scale of 5 for the energy efficiency by BEE.

Instructions to carry the audit

  1. Select the type of Building and Room you are conducting the audit for under Building Identification and Room Identification
  2. Choose Rate type and enter the value of Tariff.
  3. Measure the length, width and mounting height of the room using a measuring tape.
  4. Enter the measured values under Room Dimensions.
  5. Select the Luminaire under Luminaire Name and enter the value of Number of Luminaires, Daily Usage and Operating days per month.
  6. Click submit after entering all required details.
